Egypt - The Mediterranean's Anchor
Eni’s footprint in Egypt is foundational to its regional strategy. The company operates the massive Zohr field (the largest gas discovery ever made in the Mediterranean Sea), which historically underpinned Egypt's energy self-sufficiency. Eni also holds a major stake in the 5.2 MTPA Damietta LNG plant, creating an export hub not just for Egyptian gas but for Eastern Mediterranean gas via tie-backs with Cyprus. Continuing its exploration dominance, Eni announced a new 2 Tcf gas discovery at the Denise W well in April 2026, slated for fast-track development.
Mozambique - Coral South FLNG Pioneers Deepwater Exports
Eni established Mozambique as a global energy player with the launch of the Coral Sul FLNG unit - Africa’s first deepwater floating liquefaction facility. Capable of producing 3.4 MTPA, the project successfully shipped its 100th LNG cargo in April 2025. Beyond exports, the project is a local economic engine, having created over 1,400 jobs and generating $800 million in contracts for Mozambican SMEs.
Libya - Leading the Upstream Resurgence
Eni has operated in Libya since 1959 and remains its top international energy operator, boasting an equity production of approximately 162,000 boe/d. The company is actively driving Libya's gas renaissance, highlighted by its $8 billion Structures A&E offshore development. Demonstrating continued exploration success, Eni secured the offshore Block O1 licence in early 2026 and rapidly announced two new gas discoveries (BESS 2 and 3) totalling over 1 Tcf to feed both domestic and Italian markets.
Côte d’Ivoire - Baleine's Rapid & Sustainable Delivery
Eni is the driving force behind Côte d’Ivoire’s energy renaissance. Production began at the massive Baleine discovery in August 2023, accelerating rapidly through Phase 1 and Phase 2. Uniquely, Baleine is Africa's first Scope 1 & 2 Net-Zero upstream project, proving that massive production (ramping up to 70 MMscf/d) can be executed sustainably. This gas is vital for the local grid, ensuring a highly reliable baseline for the country's power generation system.
Congo – Powering the Grid and Fast-Tracking LNG
Eni’s operations in Congo represent a masterclass in agile execution and local integration. While Phase 1 and 2 of the Congo LNG project have successfully launched (with the Tango and Nguya FLNG units bringing export capacity to 3 MTPA as of early 2026), Eni’s domestic commitment remains paramount. Gas produced in Congo directly fuels the Centrale Electrique du Congo, which provides an incredible 70% of the entire country's power generation capacity.
Ghana - OCTP: The Domestic Monetisation Benchmark
Eni’s Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) remains the gold standard for domestic gas monetisation. Crucially, it is the only non-associated gas development project in Sub-Saharan Africa entirely dedicated to the domestic market. Meeting 65% of Ghana’s power generation needs, this 270 MMSCFD facility eliminates fugitive methane and provides stable, competitively priced feedstock.
Angola - Azule Energy's Deepwater and Biofuels Dominance
Present in Angola since 1980, Eni operates through Azule Energy (its powerhouse joint venture with bp), reigning as the country’s largest independent hydrocarbon producer. In Q1 2026, Azule delivered first gas at the New Gas Consortium (NGC) - the country’s first dedicated, non-associated gas project. Uniquely, Eni also leverages its Angolan presence to run major agribusiness hubs, producing sustainable biofuels on degraded lands to support its broader transition goals.
Nigeria - Optimised Upstream Presence
Following the strategic divestment of NAOC Ltd to streamline its onshore portfolio, Eni operates across 24 upstream licenses via NAE and AENR. Eni also remains a foundational shareholder in Nigeria LNG Ltd, driving the Train 7 expansion to cement Bonny as a premier global LNG hub.
